Some hours later, sparkling black eyes opened again, and a mouth filled with sharp pointed teeth yawned open, tongue rolling out. The fox got up on its feet, still on the small chair and stretched each individual muscle, bones cracking and snapping in and out of place with the strain. It stood tall, gave its fur a nice long shake, then looked around it. A white room, complete with a figure on a white bed. Not interested in whether the human was awake or asleep, as its posture was entirely unthreatening, the fox's gaze continued to look at the strangely dark floor in its colorless vision.
Sniffing the air delicately, black nose twitching, the foc recognized the scent of blood, and look at the dark spots on the floor with interest. It was fairly old by the slightly dimmed scent, and, the fox noted, it smelled strangely like its own blood, but slightly different. Unable to make mental leaps like a human, as its mind, after sleeping, was all too animal, the fox jumped down to get a better whiff of the blood. A memory brought the fox down, the feel of blood pouring out its skin in wonderfully thick lines. The soft burning of metal on skin viciously, sweetly setting blood afire. The sensation of a sun's heat burning through the body as it threaded its way through veins. And finally, the feeling of being free, being released, coming to end with a change. The change to become as it was. The fox jumped up onto the bedin one swift leap, and looked a question at Faust. It still did not understand the connection between itself and the memories, but then, it was all too obvious.

Faust looked down at the fox, not that Eve was more animal minded now. "Hello." He said to her gently. "Have a good sleep did you?" He moved over to the far side of the bed to allow the fox more room, or if Eve chose to, change back.
Deep inside his stomach a rumble emerged. Faust laughed, looking at the clock on the wall. 6:30, dinner would be ready soon. "Wow, I didn't realize how hungry I was before I set myself down for a sleep. I suppose you'll be waiting until you get back home before you eat, won't you."
The door creaked open and an attendant brought Faust his dinner, consisting of potatoes, mixed vegetables, and chicken. She cast a dirty look at the animal on his bed and opened her mouth to shoo it way but stopped when Faust sent her a quiet look of opposition.

Change? the fox thought to itself. How very odd. I never change my coat, except thicking and lessening it for the seasons. It looked back at the blood and a name flashed through its mind like lightening. EVE! The fox closed its eyes, thinking hard on why this Eve was so important. Then it remembered. Eve, you're Eve, you're her.
Looking back at Faust, the fox snarled softly. "No I will not be feeding with my mark this sun, and I will not be changing back to two-legger form yet. I don't particularly like being un-furred around those called 'strangers.'" The maid came in, giving Eve a disgusted look. It seemed to disappear when Faust gazed at the maid menicingly, but what really got her running was the, "Leave or you will regret it, non-furred one." The prospect of a talking fox was a bit much for her, apparantly.

Faust ate his meal in silence, occasionally looking up at the fox that was Eve. Hours before she seemed intent on letting herself die, that she nearly succumb to the silver. He wondered if he were there if she would have changed form and thus lived.
When he had finished the last morsle of food he set his plate down on the bedside table and sighed. Someone would be back later to take his plate away. "So..." He said awkwardly to Eve.

((My birthday tomorrow and I'm carrying out someone else's wish =/))
The fox watched the human eat, noticing it glanced up every once in a while to look at its little black eyes, then back down. When it finished it breathed deep, the put the plate aside. The fox attributed it to strange human behavior. He seemed to be considering something, then suddenly spoke, a soft "So..."
"You wish to speak, two-legger?" Evelyn the fox asked, onyx eyes glinting in the pale, untouched light of the clinic. "I would recommend you speak with your own, but if you wish to speak to me, I will answer this sun. After one sun, however, I will return to my own den."

"Own den?" He said curiously. "What do you..." And then it struck him, den, fox, she had become the animal. He sighed again and rubbed his temples in annoyance.
"Absolutely nothing goes right for me, nothing. I try to be nice, Eve quits, she comes back, she's poisoned, she heals, she becomes a fox." He thought angrily.
"Eve, turn back now." He ordered sternly. He hated giving her such strick, official words, but it had to be done. "That's it I guess, she wins. She's not a friend, she's a bodygaurd, nothing more." He thought in defeat, sadness taking over him.

The fox snorted, turning three circles on the bed and laying down, head in its paws. Its ears pricked forward in amusement at Faust. Silly two-leggers. Never knew much about shape-changers. He seemed to not understand what she had explained before too. She would explain it clearer this time.
"When I change, two-legger, I am without my fur. I already explained this." Craning its neck forward slightly, the fox took a bit of Faust's sleeve in its mouth and tugged once. Rolling its eyes up to look at Faust without removing its teeth from the shirt, the fox reiterated what it was saying. "Your fake fur, since you have none, protects you from cold. If I change, I change without my fur. You do not come that way. I would have no fur."

"My name, nor title, is 'two-legger'." Faust said in annoyance, it was starting to get on his nerves. He tugged his sleeve, attempting to remove it from Eve's mouth, but without success.
"And I understand now." He replied. "My apologies for misinterpreting." He sighed and lay back down, he suddenly feeling oh so drained.
He tugged his sleeve again, once again without success. He smiled lightly and tugged again gently.

"My apologies," Eve murmured, although in her mind-voice it was clear that she found nothing to be apologizing for. He tugged at his sleeve, and she tugged back, more playful than her normal self. Another tug and she tugged back again, snarling lightly, but not in a warning way.
Faust tugged a third time at his sleeve, and Eve tugged back once more. Her small, but sharp teeth were beginning to harm the cloth, and, despite the man's smile, Eve let go, looking at the small needle point holes left in her wake. "Sorry," she said, backing up a bit to sit on the very edge of the bed. "I got carried away. I forgot two-legger fur tears easier than ours."
Eve began to run teeth and tongue through her fur coat, grooming her silky soft shield of warmth. "Oh, and I accept your apology. Most do not understand how those who are part-animal, part-two-legger work."

"Ah, see..." He said quietly. "I've tried my hand at shape change... it is very hard. I hold respect for those who can do it quickly."
He nodded. "And there was no need to apologize for the rips in my clothes, I can get my tailor to fix it."
He stretched and sighed, leaning back on his pillow while the fox/Eve groomed herself. "And I must compliment you on your wonderful coat, if I were to shape change into a fox I am sure it would not be so nice." He chuckled to himself and brought the sheets closer around himself.

Eve snorted, still grooming herself, although when he complimented her fur she puffed her chest out a bit more. "To a born shape changer, it is simple as the sky to change between forms and our furs are always spotless." She looked proud of herself, although her eyes held a twinge of something-regret possibly, as she settled down.
"I really must leave soon...I must feed before the prey goes to sleep and my predators awaken." Evelyn murmured, more for her own benefit than Faust's. If he wanted to come on a small walk with her, he could join her, but the truth of the matter was that her stomach was growling softly beneath her fur.

Faust nodded. "Then of course we could go." He pulled himself out of bed and began to get dressed. "And I suppose I'll come with you, gods know I need to get out of here."
He pulled on his coat and slipped on his huge black boots and sighed. He turned to the fox and smiled lightly. "I wonder.." He thought. He focused on the mental image of a fox, thinking himself as on, willing himself to become one.
There was a sickening crack as his bones readjusted and he fell to all fours. Before his hands hit the ground his clothes were changing into fur, his face elongating, his eyes slanting. There, standing in from of the bed was a fox, a rather obvious magical fox, but a fox none the less.
It was snow white, like Faust's hair, and it's eyes were bright green, an odd, eerie combination. It wasn't perfect, fur was sparse in some areas, the tail was too short, and his ear shape was definitely that of a wolf's, not a fox's.
"Let's get going..." Came a soft voice through Eve's mind.

The fox snorted, laughing in her own mind. "Your thought is still two-legger, and you are pathetic in shape. Is it your will to meet the Dark God?" The voice was as it had always been, Eve's lyrical cadence. The fox, whole and complete, looking nice and gorgeous, lept from the room, running quickly while dodging passing carts and people. Her greatest victory came when she lept right through a rolling cart, causing the nurse to curse after her. It really wasn't Eve's fault-foxes had a natural capacity for mischief.
Stalking out the door, Eve lifted her nose and scented the surrounding area, lifting her face to the drowing sun's heat. It was almost nightfall, and even the birds were silent. Without even looking back over her shoulder at her foxish follower, Eve caught the scent of a rabbit and ran full out towards her prey. She was small, true, but the bunny she caught a wiff of was young, a baby by age standards, and small enough to be taken down by the grown up fox.
The bunny was in sight, black, tiny, its pink nose quivering as it suddenly noticed a predator near-by. It froze for a moment, then began to run, only to be cut off by a big, red body. The fox snarled quietly, then grasped the bunny by the neck, twisting its head rapidly until it heard a sure 'SNAP.' Lifeless body in its jaws, the fox moved under the shade of a tree and began to slowly but surely clean the fur from the tiny rabbit.

"And efficiant killer as animal and human." Faust thought as he came following through the bushes. His green eyes were set on the rabbit, though he had no intention of eating anything. His sat in front of her, almost regally, and watched.
"Now explain what you meant back in the room." He thought to her. His fox eyes looking down on Eve. "I understand that I keep my thoughts. I'll admit willingly that I do not have the best abilities as a shapeshifter, but what was it you were saying about the Black God?"
His tail swished and his head tilted to one side. Faust's white coat gleemed in the sun, seemingly reflecting the light.

Eve tore into the rabbit's hide as Faust sat before her and asked her a question. The fur was tugged away, all that was left was a bloody, delicious meal, so the fox did not even pause her eating to answer Faust's question. "Nature knows nature," she murmured, gobbling up a particularly thick piece of one of the leg muscles. "You are not from Mother, and any of the People ((animals)) who saw you would know you weren't People. They have a moon's chance over the sun of attacking you, thinking you are not Natural."
Done with the leg, Eve flipped the bunny over, starting on the other back leg. "Your thought as Two-legger would also hinder you. People must think like People to survive, as Two-leggers must think like Two-leggers to survive. You may scoff at the simplicity of what we say, but the People are very wise, and we hold many of the secrets Two-Leggers keep spending their lives to find out."
