Faust was lying in bed, obviously very sick, the blankets pulled around his bare skin. His breath was ragged and from the sound of it hurt very much whenever he inhaled. He felt like vomitting, even though he was sure that it was impossible because he hadn't eaten anything for such a long time.
His snow white hair was now a slight grey, his pale skin was the color of sour mild. Under his eyes were dark rings, meaning he had not been able to get very much sleep as of late. His chest heaved up and down with difficulty, trying to get as much air as possible, even though it as agony to do so.
He felt so weak, he could barely move and his whole body was shaking. One moment he was ice cold, the next boiling hot. He was in so much pain, so much agony. He didn't want anyone to see him like this.
There was a knock at the door and Faust tried to respond by telling whoever it was to go away, yet he couldn't find his voice in time. He saw the doorknob turn and the door started to open.
((This is for Eve and myself))

Eve walked in, her usual stoic bodyguard face in place as she was in the middle of saying, "My Lord, its time for me to wak-" Eve had made the mistake of looking up and cut of the rest of her sentence in a breathless scream. She ran towards him and noticed how aweful he looked, from the rings on his eyes to the paling of his face.
"Forest's Breath," she whispered. Eve reached out to check for a fever, but was stopped by a strange tickling sensation in her arm. She looked down and saw that his bed was made entirely of silver bedframe. "The silver, My Lord. I'll need a serving girl to help you. Eeither that or I must move you to a new bed."
Looking him over, Eve felt sicked and slightly curious. "What in the world is happening to you?" She asked, backing away from the silver slowly.

Faust looked at, his eyes slightly glazed. "My magic..." He said, his voice was strange, strangled. "Its too strong..." Faust breathed, a deep rattling breath that looked too painful to bare. "I could kill the earth if I wished. Gaia, the earth's spirit realizes this, and is trying to get rid of the threat. She attacks me ever once and a while... " Another disturbing breath. "and all my spritual and physical strength is sapped."
He coughed up blood and painfully turned and spit it into a nearby bucked. "You can move me, but right now I'm crippled. I'll need to be carried." He looked at Eve sadly. "I'm sorry, I'll have my bed replaced once I'm better. I am also sorry you had to see me like this."

Eve shook her head at what he said. "Yay for the little people," she murmured, moving forward. "I hope you've never had a fear of half-animals." Now that he was sick, Eve could almost bring herself to speak to him like a regular person. Not that she spoke to regular people much, but the tension was definately not as high. In truth, his condition didn't really bother her-the silver did.
Eve took a deep breath, pushed back her fear of silver, and allowed the magic that connected her to the forest to glow through her body. The silver coursed through her body, causing more pain than normal as her arms transformed into bear paws. She moved forward hesitantly, getting within an inch of the bed. Picking up Faust in her now-furry arms, Eve backed away before she became nautious.
Carrying Faust across the hall, Eve lay him down in her clean bed, which she had changed that morning, and sighed as the wood frame healed the damage the silver caused to her. She breathed deep, letting her arms return to normal as she concentrated on the forest and only the forest. Shaking her head, Eve looked down at Faust with nearly unfocused eyes. "What do you need, My Lord?"

"Water." He said quietly, choking up more blood. "And a bucket for my blood." He looked up, and hyperventaled slightly. His body felt like it was on fire. He added another item to his list. "And a wet cloth for my head."
He looked at her, knowing how close he was to death. "I need you to protect me, please." He told her. "I can't even move, let alone defend myself. I guess it would be good to have someone here to talk to, I guess."

"I will get a servant to bring the things of which you ask, then I will protect you," Eve said nothing of talking. They both knew that was against her rules, and her rules were not going to change. She slipped out of the room and told a near-by serving girl to get everything for Faust, then returned to his room, standing guard at the foot of his bed.
Eve closed her eyes and breathed in deeply, her nose changing to accept the air as an animal would. In it she smelled death. Opening her eyes and looking at Faust, Eve realized that if she had been anyone else, she would have told him the hands of death were upon him.

Faust was very scared of death, not dying, but what lay after dying. He didn't know what he was, he knew he wasn't human or a mage. He had no idea what he was and what lay in store for him in the afterlife. The thought of his afterlife scared him more than anything in this world.
"Eve, don't let my serving girl see me like this." He said feebly, then he apologized. "I'm sorry, I'll stay quiet." It was the only time since they had met when he had agreed to stay quiet when Eve was around. He shut his eyes and tried not to think of the blinding pain he was in. He could hear his servant coming down the hall, hopefully with something that will take away some of his pain.

Eve stalked forward and met the serving girl at the door, blocking her view of Faust. "Thank you," she murmured with a slight smile that did not meet her eyes. Eve stepped back inside and closed the door soundly behind her. Looking at her familiar room with the books stacked in one corner and collection of weapons, Eve found she could not think of it as her room with Faust writhing in pain on her bed.
Moving to Faust, Eve knelt on the floor, placing the bucket beside the bed. She lay a cool towel across his forhead, and took the glass of water in one hand. "My Lord, are you well enough to drink on your own?" Eve had not questioned Faust's command not because he was ill, but because she truly was his to command whether he liked it or not. No talking involved, no personal lives, just the closest servant, the one trusted with life itself.

"I just need a little help." He said. "Thank you." He said, shutting his eyes. The wet towel felt nice, though it did very little to releive the pain, it do help the heat.
He felt himself choke and turned his head painfully and he let the blood that had flooded his mouth fall into the bucket. "My apologies." He said. He drew a shaking breath and lookup at the ceiling. He tried to lift the glass to his mouth but found it very heavy and seemed impossible to lift it.

"Please refrain from apologizing, My Lord. It is not your fault." Even in telling Faust to stop doing something, Eve sounded neutral-as though she had no opinion. That wasn't true, of course. Eve had an opinion. She just didn't share it.
Ignoring the blood sliding down the inside of the bucket, Eve got up, gripping the glass of water gently over his hand. She then placed a strong arm under his back and gently lifted him so the water would not slip down his face. Trying hard not to cause him pain, Eve helped bring the glass to Faust's lips. "Take as much as you want, I don't mind standing here and your servants don't mind fetching more."

"Thank you." He said, a few tears fell out of pain and graditude. He had always had to deal with his sickness spells alone, without a soul. He'd lose track of time, only knowing how long he's been sick by how much blood was in the bucket.
He drank lots of water, wetting his mouth and throat. He could feel the water go down and even that hurt. "Thank you Eve." He said, having his fill. His chest was moving up and down fast, it looked as if he had just run a marathon. "I think that may be all for the moment." He told her.

Eve nodded and slowly let Faust back down to the bed, gently taking the glass of water from him. "How long do these sick spells last?" she asked him, all business as usual. "Wait, don't answer, give me a moment." Eve left the room as calmly as ever, asking the same servant girl for a bucket of scalding hot water and a bucket of ice cold water. She had noticed that Faust's pain alternated between heat and cold, so it was only right to have remedies to both on hand.
Taking both the buckets when they arrived, Eve addressed the serving girl. "Go down to the marketplace to the Healer Lia down on Ropth street. Buy potions to ease pain, lower fevers, and cause temporary sleep. Buy more than one of each." Pulling money from her pocket, Eve shooed the serving girl down the hall, then returned to Faust.
"As I was asking," Eve said as she took the towel and re-wet it in the cold water. "How long?" she asked, voice as soothing as she hoped the towel was as she draped it across Faust's forhead.

"They can last from a day to a week." He said quietly. "I think it depends on how much magic I've used." It made sense, the more of a threat he was to more the planet would want him gone. "Though sometimes I haven't used almost any magic and had very serious pain when I go s..." His sentance was cut short by a gag and he spit blood into the bucket. He began shivering.
It was so cold, he felt it change so suddenly. He turned his head so the cold, damp cloth fell off. He shut his eyes tightly because he was starting to get very dizzy. "So cold." He whispered outloud by accident. He tried to pull the blankets higher around him, though with difficulty.

Eve was fast-faster than human eyes could have seen when she grabbed the cloth, wrung it out, and had the hottest water possible on his head within seconds. "We'll just have to wait it out...in a rough thirty minutes I should have some potions to ease the pain." Eve's voice was soothing, like velvet.
Running a hand through Faust's hair as you would with a child, Eve hummed softly to him. "You're going to be fine," she whispered. It was funny how his pain brought out this side of Eve so easily. Funnier still was that the second it was over, the caring Eve would disappear.

"Lets hope." He said. "And lets also hope that potions work well." He felt his inside twist in agony as he lay there, it was unbarable. "More water please." He said to her weakly. His lips were already dry, even though it had only been minutes since he had taken a drink.
He couldn't understand why she was so caring suddenly. Yet he most definitely wasn't going to aske her motives or why the sudden change.
