"I see." He said. "Well, in that case I dearly hope they are not as good as you, then I may have my life cut too short, even for my liking."
He told the young girl, who was still shocked at what just happened to leave. "Sarah, please go to the gaurd's quarters and tell them I want security brought up to full, okay?" He always made a point of using a servant's name, not 'you' or the like. He also noticed how pale the servant girl was. "Then you can take the rest of the day off, have something to eat, you are nearly in shock."
He then turned to Eve and spoke to her as Sarah left them. "Now, it is around noon, is it not? I'm going to have something to eat, you are welcome to join me, though as I remember you declined my last offer." He chuckled to himself slightly. "Come, we can discuss some matters while at the table."
That was his way, never taking an assassination attempt seriously, having to deal with them for the last two years. He, however, was always stressed about other issues and realized that if he did worry about assassins that he'd have a breakdown.
((You don't have to star out curses if you don't want to, I don't mind. If you want to go ahead, but I'm not forcing you to star them.))

((I didn't do that...you haven't fixed the profanity filter yet.))
Eve was already facing away from him yet again. He was offering yet again for them to be equals, friends even. Why in hell's name didn't he just get a damn girlfriend to eat with? She turned back to face him. "I will agree, please, let us begin to walk back." Scouting the area as they began walking, Eve considered making her answer less...harsh sounding. Shrugging it off, she settled for the truth.
"There is a reason I wont join you at the table, as I said before, a bodyguard should not share meals with their mark. You present me with a problem, however, the fact that we must discuss the next course of action. Thus, you may eat and I will sit, but my mouth will not touch food."

"Yes, I see." He said, walking with her down to the dining hall. There was a large table set out for court functions, banners baring Faust's seal were hanging on the walls. He slipped into a side door, and there was a small round wooden table, big enough only for two.
A small bowl of soup with bread had been placed there and was still steaming. Faust sat down and gestured for Eve to sit down opposite of him if she wished. "Last chance for something to eat or drink." He joked, knowing full well what her answer was going to be. He broke his bread and began to butter it lightly.

Eve watched Faust sit down and sighed. She just knew he wasn't going to make this any easier. "No thank you, My Lord, I will hydrate myself later with an energy drink of sorts." She sat opposite him, and so trained was her body that she did not even hunger for the food set before her. Her smile was ironic as she had not even sat with the servants to eat before, keeping mainly to herself.
Eve watched him butter the bread and decided to begin speaking before he began eating, because surely he would take longer answering if he was eating and that would delay her questioning. The sooner she could retreat, the better.
"Please, My Lord, I ask you to be more wary these coming days. Security will be much higher, but assassins are good at what they do." Having given her bit of 'Stay alive for me' chatter, which was more than Eve usually said in opinion, Eve moved on to the bare facts and questions. "I will, of course, be escorting you between buildings from now on and guarding you even inside the buildings. Would you like me to merely guard you, or guard the entire building?"

"Me." He answered. "Gaurding a building is a job for my soldiers, that is what I pay them for." He explained. "I am the only one in danger, nobody else needs protection, that I'm sure off."
He took a bite of bread and drank some wine quietly. "And I have no problem with you gaurding me at all times." He informed her. "There is a room across from my own that you can sleep in if you see it fit."
He ate some soup and watched her quietly. "Is there anything else, Eve?" He asked. "Anything at all or are you finished?" By his tone it was definitely not a rude comment, but an inquirey.

Eve nodded as he told her to guard him. Perfectly understandable, guard the mark, not his building. Also, unfortunately, a way to get to know eachother better. She watched him eat, trying to decide whether he was purposely trying to get her to be around people more. Then he suggested that she move to the room opposite his. While she adored her solitary room on the wing of the soldiers, it would make it easier for her to keep track of Faust at all times.
She nodded at him, standing from her chair. This had gone much shorter than she had thought. "No, My Lord, only that I will take my meals in the room from now until this problem is over. I will move my possessions over when Jean takes over for my meal break." She nodded her head at him and went to stand in a corner of the room where she could keep an eye on all the doors and windows.

"I understand." Faust replied. He ate in silence, something that seemed to suffocate his usually cheerful and upbeat self. The soup was very good, he was impressed and decided that he would make a trip to the kitchen and compliment his chef on the job well done.
As he finished eating Faust spoke, though didn't look at Eve. "My apologies." He said in advance. "But may I ask what you eat? Or if there is anything you may request in a meal?"
He put the last peice of bread in his mouth and chewed it slowly, taking his wine and swirled it slightly. He enjoyed wine, it was his favorite beverage and he had always seemed to have a glass of it with a main meal. He waited for Eve's reply.

Eve felt uncomfortable, as if anything out of work was out of her comfort zone. Which it was. "Mostly health food, meats, things to keep me as able to do my job as I was the day before. I buy my food from the town market every week with my free hours on Saturday afternoon." Right after going to the local temple and praying to the Gods for forgiveness, she added to herself. That was much too personal for her mark to know. What she ate, fine, but what she believed was a different story.
Eve watched him drinking the wine, a frown beginning between her eyes. In her opinion alcohol, if taken at all, should be done in small proportions, yet Faust seemed to revel in the taste enough to drink more than 'a little.'

At a glance Faust read her, the frown on her face, the way her eyes were gently glancing to his glass. "I'm not an alchoholic." He said crossly. "You judge me, yet you don't realize that I use my magic to create a special wine. It has very low alchohol content but has the same taste as regular wine. Do you think I am stupid enough to become intoxicated when bounties have been placed on my head? On top of that, I am the lord of this land, I need to set an example, being drunk is a bad example." This was usually the most angry Faust will get outside, within however he was somewhat cross indeed.
He glanced at her cooly for a moment. "Now you know." He put his half full glass back in front of him, the sweet taste of the wine now somewhat imbittered by Eve's opinion of him.

Eve watched him with cool eyes, no emotions crossing her mind or her features as he ranted on about less alcohol. "My job is not to know, My Lord, it is to protect you. You seem to have the two confused." Eve's comment was cold, and, at that moment, Jean stepped through the door, still clothed in his soldiers armor.
"An hour, Love," he said cheerfully, his gaze on Eve careful. Among the soldiers there were legends of her eating the bones of those she killed and more atrocities of the sort because of her eating alone. Jean, who sometimes helped her unpack her buyings for the week, knew otherwise. He was the only one speaking in her defence.
Eve gave him a quick smile, a sort of, "Hope you have better luck not existing than I did." He returned the look with a calm, "I don't try, and you shouldn't either." Eve shrugged as she stalked out the door, off to move her things to the room opposite Faust's.

"Hello." Faust said, still quite angry. "So, you're here for an hour? Are you hungry?" He picked up his bowl and still half full glass and put it on a nearby counter for a servant to come and take it away later.
"Or thristy?" He asked. He felt like he had nothing to say to this man at the more. He felt rather disappointed by Eve's approach to him, but he was slowly getting used to it, however much he dislike it.

Jean moved forward in the room, standing to the side of the chair Eve had sat in. "I am neither hungry, nor thirsty, but I thank you for the offer." Unlike Eve, most of his sentences did not contain the words "My Lord." Jean was tall, muscular, and everything a general should be. His voice was low, just this side of gruff, and his head was shaved. Definately general material.
Jean watched Faust carefully. "I heard you had a run in with a few visitors today," he commented, watching the windows. Small talk. Just a way to pass the time.

"Yes, a farmer who I helped and an assassin who I dealed with quickly." He said to him. He found that the general was a lot more easy to talk to, unlike Eve who was official and impersonal.
"So you know Eve?" He said. The answer was obviously yes so he continued. "I assume she isn't always that impersonal, its just around me isn't it?" He didn't expect an answer just a comment.
He saw a serving boy come out and take his dishes. The young boy smiled and waved, Faust did the same and wished the boy a good afternoon. He liked being as close as he could to his staff and servers, they were his only family.

The general stiffened as if someone had pressed a hot poker to his back. He knew that Eve would not want to be talked about while she was gone. "No," he murmured, voice almost matching Eve's in lack of emotion. "She is not always that impersonal."
Jean said no more on the subject, and, if asked, would evade. He knew Eve had enough with the soldiers. Hell, he'd just had to punish an entire group of them for playing a sick joke on Eve by placing a silver ring under her matress. It was small enough where she hadn't noticed it that Friday night, but she woke up Saturday morning too sick to go get food. He had gone shopping for her and found the culprits, subjecting them all to night watch without any drinks or food.

Faust wasn't pushing the subject any more, he just wanted to know that one thing. "So, general." He said, then paused. "Sorry, would you like to be refered to as general or Jean? or both?"
He meanwhile had begun to wash his hands in a baisin that was nearby, using plenty of soap. He wiped his hands with a cloth when finished. "I hope you got the message about tightening secruity." He said to Jean, wondering if that he had gotten the message.
