Eve shrugged, eyes going slightly less friendly towards Faust. "I have been doing some work in protection lately, some slayer things, and what-not. I suppose I just have not found a child worthy enough to train." Eve stiffened slightly as her sensitive ears picked up the sound of knife entering flesh. A side glance, and she knew the Vampire Queen was handling everything just fine. She looked back at Faust, smiling again at him.
"Been sick lately?" she asked him, the topic straying once more from herself. "I'm sorry I forgot to teach you how to make the healing brew. I hope you managed without the instruction." A tingle started in the back of Eve's neck just when the words left her mouth. Ignoring it, she decided it was at worst the vampires having rid the party of the knife-wielding guest.

"No, I'd imagine within the month I'll fall ill again." He looked gravely at her. "And you realize that my illness is a secret."
He didn't wait for her to respond, noting how she was steering everything towards him. If she wanted to be like that, fine. "I also have been fair busy, this ball took forever to set up."
He had not noted the assassination attempt, though he did realize something was wrong. The room's energy changed slightly, he prepared itself, but soon the energy returned to as it was before.

Eve nodded politely, murmuring an apology for bringing up his illness. She supposed it would have been like him saying something personal to her like about her singing or really anything at all. It struck her that, although he was more personal than she was, Faust had the same level discomfort when speaking of his magic. Understanding, she smiled again at him, eyes brilliantly lighting as they both set on a topic they were fine with...which was rather odd since, as he was no longer her mark, Eve should not have cared if he knew anything more about her.
"It looks wonderful, Faust, really it does," Eve looked around, noting that, since they were in a courtyard, trees and leaves were nearby. The decorations fit perfectly, although Eve would have thought it gorgeous if it had been only trees and leaves. She brushed her hand across a hanging vine near to her, gold streaking hotly across her eyes like a bolt of electricity. Her hand slipped off, the smile fading from her eyes. The tingle was back, the hairs on her arms standing on end. The forest was warning her-or inviting her. She looked far into the distant trees, swearing golden eyes stared at her own. She said the only thing she was thinking out loud, forgetting about Faust. "What are wolves doing this close to humans?" As if awakened by her voice, a lone howl rang out, whispering across Eve's skin like the soft brush of velvet. "Its as if they know I'm here..." she glanced at the vine, which, of its own accord had reached for her hand again. "And they don't want me here..."
Suddenly Eve remembered herself, and she looked at Faust, alarmed. "Nature is worried of its child Faust, that's definately not a good sign." She scanned the crowd, eyes without a trace of gold as she drew back from the vine. "What in great Mother Night's name are they planning?"

Faust was about to question what on earth she was talking about when his words were cut short. A razor sharp pain emmitted from his chest, his breath suddenly caught in his throat.
He looked down and saw blood pooling at his feet. Dreading what was coming, and knowing the answer to his silent question, he pulled some fabric away from his body and saw a large hole through his ribs.
Blood was gushing from the wound like a fountain and was spilling on the floor. He found it hard to breath, his voice gone, his breath rasping. Behind him, half imbedded in the ground was an arrow, metal point stuck into the ground, shot from an unknown assassin.
He looked up at Eve, finding his voice suddenly he whispered her name, still not beleiving what had happened. "Eve..." His eyes were filled with fear and confusion, the look of almost a child dying. He fell backwards onto the grass, his blood soaking the green blades crimson.
His blue-grey eyes pointed up into the night sky, his breath ragged and painful.

Eve stared at Faust, breathless for a moment. Then she bent, exposing one entire well toned leg and taking out a knife in the same smooth gesture. Without even looking, she threw the knife, knowing it hit the assassins heart as he fell from the tree. "I can't heal you, Faust, I just..." Eve looked up, suddenly sick. Worry was a tight knot in her gut, but she didn't want to worry. She had to get out of there. Taking a deep breath, Eve began to sing, golden light seeming to glow out from beneath her skin. Golden butterflies settled in her brown hair, and her eyes became entirely gold.
Where the wind blows, just beyond the snow, Past the forest greens, where the sun glows. Golden tendrils reached from her body, weaving around Faust as blood continued pooling around him. Animals lived there, between great plants, with lush green trees, and a crystalline lake. But one day, those great trees, just plain disappeared, replaced by, great monsters, of metal and steel. The gold solidified, the earth reaching out to protect her target. Friends would be the only one to reach Faust once the spell was set. It came to the point where, the animals there no longer knew... Where the windd blows, no longer just beyond the snow, forest greens gone, and without the suns glow. Eve's eyes were sad as she glanced at the crowd, entranced by her song, the song calling the only thing calling the earth forth. She would have sang anything, anything except for that treasured song, but it was the only one she remembered. Now, should you wander, you always will know, what happened to the glow, Eve's voice was soft as Faust's body shown with brilliant light. "Goodbye," her soft voice was hard. She had no want, no need to entrance a crowd like that. She didn't even wait to hear the reply, running as hard and fast as she could for the forest, not knowing there were tears in her eyes. Far enough away, wolves encircled her, butting her legs affectionately as she collapsed, protected by their furry bodies. And so Eve slept, safe, warm, and dreaming of failure and blood, but mostly of the sadness, and fear that set in her heart over Faust's injury.

IT took no more than mere seconds for Kalindria to be at his side, her usual look of calm and quiet friendliness all but gone, to be replaced by something horrible and angered, this wound was not deadly, not by her standards, she could fix it, she had seen worse by far, but to have an arrow pierce Faust through the chest in this manner, ignited the fury of the Vampire Queen. She understood the Druid’s song, she knew the words, had heard them before, long ago.
Eve, farewell forest friend.
Screams erupted from the crowd as they came to their senses, people stood around, making a circle about the Vampire Queen and their glowing Lord on the ground. Those not standing, were running, futilely for their lives.
In the quiet of the Druid song, friends had been known, enemies, now shown brightly, and there seemed to be over 50 of them. Kalindria murmured something under her breath.. ÁöÞóôå ôéò ðõñêáãéÝò ôçò êüëáóçò íá óáò êáôáíáëþóïõí
All around the crowd, a scream now of pain and suffering erupted as one after the next, bodies of those trying to escape burst into flames so hot, their gurgled screams were cut short, perhaps an instant after the sound reached the air, all at once, their combined screams sounding as one horrid and grotesque gnarled, sound that shut off almost as soon as it had started, and then ashes fell to the ground where the 50 had last been seen.
Kalindria then turned her head to gaze at Faust, her eyes softening, her brow worried as several medic’s raced to his side. “I love you.” She whispered to his failing ear as she was sauntered out of the way by many hands, each one taking the fallen Monarch now in their more than capable hands, stopping his bleeding and working their assorted magic and medical remedies on the injury.
A hand placed on her shoulder and a whisper in her mind. “He will be ok, the arrow didn’t hit any vital organs…” That was all she heard, it was all as if she had been in a trance, the magic she worked to extinguish the lives of the assassins took its hold then, as she allowed herself to be taken into the castle, she had not realized the time, the sun was readying to rise.
